Wishing our little girl a happy second birthday. I can’t believe she’s already two, it went by so fast! And when I stop and think where she was just one year ago, she’s learned so many things in just twelve months! Not just her vocabulary – a little Cantonese, a little French and a little English; but her mannerisms and her behaviors. She’s growing up so fast. Slow down little girl! Wait for me!

Chloe weighed in at 22 pounds at her two-year doctor visit (yes, Sebi is only 4 pounds behind her, he’s a big fattie) and she is 32.5 inches tall. So basically that means the 18 month pants are too short for her but the 24 month pants are too wide for her waist. Keep growing Chloe! I guess you’re just petite like your mommy and daddy.

And of course there was singing… by the end of the day I think Chloe figured out how to say Happy Birthday in her own way…

Somewhere, I dug out this dusty old video… to see if there was any resemblance at two years old… what do you think? My dad thinks I look so much bigger than Chloe… I don’t know… I’m going to stick with “she’s just petite”.

Wishing all of our friends and family a happy, healthy and prosperous Year of the Monkey! Speaking of monkeys, check out my two little monkeys in their outfits! Today was a lot of fun!

What’s so hilarious about these two pictures is that on the left, the kids are standing perfectly erect but I can’t manage to get them to look at me while taking their picture? Why? Of course, because Sound of Music is playing in the background at Grandpa’s house. So what do I do? I shift to the left so that I’m standing in between them and the TV so that I can take a quick pic. And what do my children do? HA HA. Yes, they lean so their view remains unobstructed. Those are my kids. Yup.

Yes, that’s everyone mid-chew of all the yummy food from Auntie Josephine.

I can’t get my daughter to crack ONE SMILE for me while dressed in her outfit and what does she do once we’re dressed and ready to go to the next house? Yup. I know. She’s totally me. I know. Karma.

Happy nine months to Sebastien. Doctor’s visit last week confirmed to me that he will absolutely surpass Chloe’s height and weight by the end of the year. He’s growing so fast! And he better lose some of that chunky chunk as he becomes more and more mobile.

It’s also Superbowl Sunday and so we had Sebastien in his football onesie as you can see. Uncle Savio came to visit and watch the game and we snapped some new pics.

Here’s a late night video of Mister-I-don’t-want-to-sleep-Sebastien. But then he gives me that smile with those eyes and those dimples and he just melts my heart. How can I be mad at him? =0)

And the Sound of Music marathon continues. Chloe sees the television remote and immediately picks it up and requests for the movie “cuckoo”. She’s actually figured out how to turn the TV on (she knows it’s the green button)!!

Here’s a video of Chloe starting to learn snippets of her favorite movie. We’ll see how long it takes for her to actually say “So Long, Farewell”.

And the best part of watching Sound of Music (because it’s on ALL the time), is to watch the kid’s reaction when they watch the movie. They’re more fun to watch than the movie!

I can’t say that I have EVER seen my daughter sit SO still by herself minding her own business but the original of this film is probably almost 15 minutes long. I left my phone camera running propped up against a bowl on the kitchen island counter as I cooked dinner and Chloe supervised. I gave her some extra green beans from dinner to keep her occupied and this is what I got from it! It was great! She’s my little Chopped Champion!

So I’ve been very bad with keeping up with the blog, I apologize. I don’t know where the days go… they truly are flying by and all kinds of things are happening! Chloe is so talkative – her vocabulary is quite extensive at this point – she definitely understands more than she speaks but she’s quite the chatterbox, I can’t wait for it to be in complete sentences! And Sebastien is so big – really, I think he’ll be bigger than Chloe before the end of this year. And he’s understanding more and more – now when I put my fingers out in front of him, he knows to grab them to stand up.

And of course, the snowstorm! We didn’t take Sebi out as it was just too cold and he wouldn’t understand it but we did go out with Chloe for 10 minutes. She didn’t seem too thrilled, maybe next year.

Check out Sebi’s latest milestone. He is just zipping along back and forth. Laurent said one morning he left Sebi in the living room and went to make coffee in the kitchen and the next thing he knew, Sebi was down at his feet in the kitchen with him!

I swore before I knew I was pregnant that if I had a daughter, I would never humiliate her and do one of those crazy ponytails that I see all these parents do to their kids. I amend that statement. I will never do it in public. I don’t know what possessed me to do it this particular day but it just happened and it was SO funny!

Growing up, my favorite movie was the Sound of Music. As an ’80s child, that meant VHS tapes. If you asked me how many times I saw the Sound of Music before I was 10, I really couldn’t say. Maybe hundreds. Maybe more. Let me put it his way – Maria’s blue dress on my tape was gray because that’s how many times I watched that VHS.

So we’re carrying on the tradition and starting to brainwash Chloe early. When she wants to watch the movie, she points the remote at the TV and when nothing happens, she hands the remote to you and says “cuckoo” to ask you to play her favorite song. It’s hilarious. And then she’s absolutely mesmerized as many of us were by this amazing video. Enjoy the clip!

With this crazy warm weather outside, you wouldn’t know it was December. And yet Christmas is less than two weeks away. The kids are back to their normal schedules after our trip to Hong Kong. Mommy is back to work and it’s crazy year end plus budget updates and dealing with crazy owners. But the look on their faces when I come home every day makes it all worth it. Sebastien is as talkative as ever. Lately he has taken to grabbing things in front of him and has perfected rolling from his back to his tummy. Can’t leave him alone anymore!

Our little boy is ready for his new car seat. I think he likes it! And Miss Chloe needs a new coat. I know. This one is just too big on her! I already bought one, it’s on it’s way. But I love the hat (and she kept it on!). Remember, this is the hat from the video where she kept taking it off when she was a baby…

My daughter, much like her mother, refuses to smile in pictures. It’s so frustrating because Sebastien always smiles for the camera, but not my stubborn daughter. That’s karma for you, I tell you. I asked for it, I know. This is the closest I got to a smile – this half side smirk. Sigh.
