Happy Valentine’s Day!
So it’s 2:30am on Valentine’s Day and what happens? You got it, my water breaks. REALLY? I guess we should be thankful that she didn’t decide to join us on Superbowl Sunday but it had to be Valentine’s Day, didn’t it? The pinkest of all days? Well I guess now I have a reason to actually LIKE February 14th, although there will be no pink birthday cakes, let’s just set that straight right now…
And of course, it’s the middle of yet another NYC 2014 winter snowstorm. So out in the snow we go. Thankfully the car is in a decent spot and we’re able to get out with little to no drama, although we’re crawling at 20 mph in the slick slushy icy mess that permeates the road in the early morning en route to Methodist Hospital in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Check out our SEXY shower caps and hospital issued outfits. Sorry mom, I won’t be able to use those scrubs you bought for Dad back in 1983 to wear when I was going to be delivered that you saved all this time.
Baby Chloe has decided that she is going to do this her way – not only does she want to join us on Valentine’s Day but she decides she is going to stay in footling breach (i.e. feet down instead of head down) and now that my water has broken, the hospital has scheduled me for a C-section. And it’s just like you see it on TV – white operating room, lots of machines and wires everywhere and a huge blue tarp, photos courtesy of Laurent since clearly, I’m just laying there totally numb from the waist down.
