Churchill Island Heritage Farm

Churchill Island Heritage Farm

We went for a visit to the historical farm on the island but it seems I found a couple of animals myself!

After getting their faces painted, the kids wandered the farm and got to see lots of animals.

Chloe is fearless; she walks right up to the horse and starts petting it.

Lots of games and activities for the kids in between meeting the animals.

Then the kids got to milk a cow and see how sheep are sheared.

Penguin Parade

Penguin Parade

At sunset, we watched the little penguins return by the hundreds from the open sea to the beaches to their burrows for the evening. These tiny little penguins whose white bellies contrasted against the dark ocean water as they emerged on the sandy beach. They were adorable and what an amazing event to see in person!

There were kangaroos everywhere around the beaches and boardwalks.

We weren’t allowed to photograph the penguins after sunset but we did take these with some statue penguins for the memories.

Nobbies Antarctica Journey and Coastal Drive

Nobbies Antarctica Journey and Coastal Drive

After our unsuccessful yet amazing venture to the shipwreck, we headed to the south west corner of Philips Island to the Nobbie Center to see the Antarctica exhibit.

Just think… 3100 miles from here is Antarctica
On our way, look what we saw!

Along the coast we drove, enjoying all the stunning scenery.

Google “Roaring Forties Australia” lol

SS Speke Shipwreck Visit

SS Speke Shipwreck Visit

We left early to catch low tide on the southern beach to see the remains of the SS Speke shipwreck. While we only made it two-thirds of the way because of the high winds and high cliffs, it was an exceptional morning!

Then the sun came out!

Chloe’s hair whipping perfectly in the wind is EPIC!
En Route to Philip Island

En Route to Philip Island

Check out the colorful bathing houses on Brighton Beach!

Afterwards we drove 2 hours to catch the noon time pelican feeding at San Remo.

And we got to see a huge manta ray up close!

Afternoon in Melbourne

Afternoon in Melbourne

Visited Chinatown for dumplings for lunch!

Then off to Fitzroy Gardens for an Easter Scavenger Hunt that took us through and around the park.

Back to the hotel for a dip in the pool!

Off to dinner on the Yarra River to catch the sunset.

What an awesome first day!! The kids were so wiped… it was a lot of walking for them!

Melbourne Street Art Walking Tour

Melbourne Street Art Walking Tour

We enjoyed a lovely early morning self walking tour of Melbourne’s street art (we’ve been up since 330am haha!).

Literally stopping every 3 steps to take photos lol
Of course she had to touch it…
Chloe loves cats!
On our way to Australia!

On our way to Australia!

This year’s spring break lined up with the Passover holiday and so we decided to go farther for our first post-COVID trip with the kids. Everyone was so excited although the prospects of the 12 hour flight to Doha, Qatar and the 13 hour flight to Melbourne were daunting. The kids did amazing and we got here successfully with very little jet lag. Stay tuned for more Australia updates!

Our overnight flight out of JFK was packed, literally not a single empty seat. The kids did great and slept 6+ hours.
The kids enjoying the artful playgrounds at Doha during layover and stretching their legs.
Such experienced and awesome travelers.. I’m so proud of you both!
Chloe’s wrist follow up

Chloe’s wrist follow up

We had a follow up exactly a week after the incident and the xrays didn’t show the fracture in both bones anymore. Because Chloe was healing and progressing well, the doctor said we could change Chloe into a brace before we left for Australia so she could be more comfortable.
